In 2019 George was the only British pianist selected for the Tchaikovsky Competition.

Born in 2001 in London, in 2017 George became one of the youngest students ever to take up a four-year scholarship at the Royal College of Music for a BMus degree, studying with Professor Vanessa Latarche.

A top prize-winner at the Grand Piano Competition in Moscow (2016), the Gina Bachauer (Utah 2016), Aarhus (Denmark 2015) and Dinu Lipatti (Bucharest 2013) Competitions, George has given concerts across Russia, in the USA, Argentina, Scandinavia and Europe.  He was selected for representation by Young Classical Artists Trust in 2019.

As a soloist he has appeared with the Moscow State, Mariinsky, Tatarstan National, Sochi Symphony and Tyumen Philharmonic Orchestras, the Orchestra Sinfónica Provincial de Santa Fe (Argentina), Carolina Philharmonic and New Millenium Orchestra of Chicago.  He has performed alongside Denis Matsuev and Lang Lang and worked with renowned conductors Valery Gergiev, Alexander Sladkovsky, Walter Hilgers and Anton Lubchenko.

Concert highlights include the Scherzo series in Madrid, the Royal Albert Hall, Berlin Philharmonie Kammermusiksaal and the Yokohama Minato Mirai Hall in Japan. In 2018 he was shortlisted for an award in the Sound of Classical Poll at the Classic BRIT Awards in London.

This season George gives recitals in the Konzerthaus Vienna, Russian Academy of Arts (Moscow) and Duszniki Chopin Festival (Poland).  He performs Beethoven with the Musica Viva Orchestra at the Zaryadye Hall in Moscow (conducted by Alexander Rudin), Tchaikovsky No.1 with the Jürmala Festival Orchestra in Latvia (conducted by Ainārs Rubiķis), and Rachmaninov No.2 with the Philharmonic Orchestra of Ploiești in Romania.

George has taken part in masterclasses with Vladimir Ashkenazy, Dmitri Bashkirov, Lang Lang and Vladimir Ovchinikov, among many others. He is very grateful to the conductor Alexander Sladkovsky and pianist Denis Matsuev who have been instrumental in guiding his artistic development.

George is YCAT’s inaugural Duet Group Artist.

Harliono has already appeared with the Mariinsky Orchestra under Gergiev, so he has already been making waves…. Harliono seemed to be savouring each separate note, taking all the time in the world to stress the composer’s melodic train of thought and poetic line.
