We are delighted to announce that on Thursday 28 November 2019 the Castalian String Quartet won the prestigious Royal Philharmonic Society’s Young Artists Award.  

The panel citation described the Quartet’s work as: thoughtful, intelligent music-making at the highest level. The Castalian String Quartet have a strong identity, sound and style.

The Awards were presented in association with BBC Radio 3, who will broadcast highlights from the event on Sunday 1 December at 8:45pm including the Castalian Quartet performing the last movement of Haydn’s Quartet, Op.76 No.1.

Upcoming highlights include recitals at Wigmore Hall on Monday 6 January with Michael Collins and on Tuesday 7 January with Stephen Hough as part of their complete Brahms chamber music cycle across the season.  The concert on 7 January will be live-streamed.

On 19 January the Quartet make their debut at the Philharmonie in Paris and on 13 March at Carnegie Hall. They return to the USA in the summer to collaborate with the St. Lawrence Quartet at the Spoleto Festival and with Barry Shiffman at the Rockport Festival.  Throughout 2020 they take part in the Simmenauer International Beethoven Quartet series including recitals at the Heidelberger-Fruhling, Dresden, Mosel and Rheingau Festivals.
